SARAH RASCOE RECEIVES 2013 ATHENA YOUNG PROFESSIONAL AWARD


Award Sponsor Martin Management Group Honors Top Young Professional




BOWLING GREEN, KY -- March 15, 2013 -- Sarah Rascoe, 35, Daymar College Director of Career Services and Community Relations has been chosen by the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce to receive the 2013 ATHENA Young Professional Award.


 


At a news conference held today at Martin Autoplex, Dodge Jeep Chrysler Ram, Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Brad Howard announced, “Sarah Rascoe’s many achievements as a leader for Daymar College, as an active leader in our Chamber partnership, and throughout so many community organizations and causes in our community are truly exemplary.”


 


“Sarah’s volunteer work goes above and beyond her professional responsibilities to help Daymar College students; she is a team player and activist in the best sense of the word,” Howard added.


 


“Martin Management Group is proud to be the official sponsor of the ATHENA Young Professional Award which is an extension of the ATHENA program, first introduced to Bowling Green in 1986. We believe in recognizing outstanding young professionals who are helping women achieve success in their careers and personal lives. Sarah represents all of the leadership characteristics that ATHENA honors,” said Amber Martin of Martin Management Group.


 


Previous winners are Jana Sublett (2008), Laura Goodman (2009), Kelly W. Wiseman (2010), Nancy Mitchell (2011), and Jamie Spinks (2012). Martin Management Group has been the longstanding sponsor of this award and of the ATHENA Award.


 


Sarah Rascoe earned her undergraduate degree in business from Western Kentucky University in 2000 and began work for Daymar College in the admissions department.  In proposing Sarah’s nomination, Pearl Taylor said, “Building and maintaining relationships with community members is an important part of Sarah’s job. Her friendly, kind and caring personality make it effortless.”


 


Taylor’s nomination noted Sarah’s years of significant volunteer work for the Chamber, as well as her participation in Big Brothers Big Sisters, Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Relay for Life, and American Heart Association Heart Walk. Sarah is a member of the Society for HR Managers (SHRM) and Kentucky Association of Careers and Education (KACE).


 


Chamber Program Director Gail Henderson said, “We at the Chamber value the ATHENA philosophy of incorporating the talent and expertise of women into the leadership of our businesses, our communities and our government. We’re proud to present the ATHENA Award and the Young Professional Award to leaders within our community.”
