Chamber Foundation Brews “Coffee With Covey” for Leader in Me™ Parents

BOWLING GREEN, KY—The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce announced today that visionary best-selling author, Sean Covey, will meet Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 8:00 a.m., for a complimentary coffee hour with parents of Bowling Green and Warren County schoolchildren who are experiencing The Leader in Me™ throughout the two school districts.

Through its not-for-profit foundation, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce embarked last year on a $3 million Capital Campaign to assure all schools in Bowling Green and Warren County can fully implement The Leader In Me™ program on all grade levels, kindergarten through twelfth grade.  To date, over $900,000 has been pledged by area businesses, individuals and parents.

The “Coffee With Covey” session is being offered exclusively to parents so they can hear first-hand Sean Covey’s vision for the The Leader in Me™ program, which is based on the international bestselling and national bestselling books, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, written by his father, Dr. Stephen Covey, and The Seven Habits of Happy Kids, and The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens, authored by Sean Covey.

The “Coffee With Covey” will take place on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 8-o’clock a.m. at the Holiday Inn (Salon B), adjacent to the Sloan Convention Center.  Throughout the day, Mr. Covey and First Lady Jane Beshear along with state officials will visit area The Leader in Me™ schools and attend the Leader In Me Symposium™ held at the Knicely Conference Center.  In the evening, Mr. Covey and Mrs. Beshear will co-host an evening business strategy seminar based on The 4 Disciplines of Execution, Mr. Covey’s most-recent bestselling business strategy book, with all proceeds benefitting the Chamber Foundation’s Capital Campaign for The Leader in Me™.

About The Leader in Me™:

Bowling Green is nationally-recognized as the first community in the nation to underwrite a seamless K-12 system-wide implementation of The Leader in Me™.  The Chamber is collaborating with the Bowling Green Independent Schools, the Warren County Public Schools and the FranklinCovey® organization to implement The Leader in Me™ in all local schools. With an integrated approach to teaching leadership using Dr. Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, The Leader in Me uses the 7 Habits throughout its model—incorporating the language and concepts into everyday life. Using this model allows all involved to “put first things first,” “be proactive” and “think win-win.”  The Chamber strongly believes that The Leader in Me prepares the future workforce by teaching children about leadership, accountability, teamwork and much more—all of which are integral skills for talent development. The Leader in Me will help our community differentiate itself from others as our workforce gains more skills that help companies compete in the global economy.
