Come grab a cup of coffee and meet some fresh new faces! This is a casual networking event to gather like minded Young Professionals get together to build strong relationships within the community. 

Please Note: This event is solely for Young Professional members within the age range, 21-40. All Attendees (members and guests) must purchase their own meal.

Some statistics: Currently, the majority of the workforce is in their 20s and the proportion of working 65-69 year olds in the US has doubled since 1985. With such a wide range in ages throughout the workplace, it is more important than ever that you know how to communicate, not only with your own generation but with others as well. In this course, you will explore why generations communicate the way they do and how to best get your message across to different age groups.

Program Deliverables:

• Identify potential challenges when interacting with the different generations.

• Demonstrate techniques that foster respectful communication with diverse generations.

• Develop an action plan to connect to all generations in your workplace.

Renowned Project Management expert Cornelius Fichtner once said, “The ‘P’ is a much about ‘People’ management as it is about ‘Project’ management.” A project can be differentiated from ongoing business operations in that it is a “a temporary endeavor to create a unique product or service.” (Chatfield and Johnson, 2000) Within this short definition can be found the basic “project triangle:” time, cost, and performance. In this course, you will explore the “art” of project management – the continual balancing of these three areas throughout the process of planned and unplanned events to arrive at a successful completion.

Program Deliverables:

• Understand the basic principles of project management/project teams.

• Evaluate likely project risks and develop appropriate response strategies.

• Monitor the key project issues of schedule, budget, and performance deliverables and develop problem responses.

The word “delegate” means “to ensure to another person, typically one who is less senior than oneself.” It sounds simple enough, right? But why do so many of us have trouble letting tasks go and delegating them to others? This course is designed for managers and supervisors who want to expand their potential and productivity and help their employees grow and develop as well.

Program Deliverables:

• Understand how to create a positive climate for delegation.

• Discover how to reduce barriers for both the delegates and the delegate.

• What to delegate and what not to delegate.

This course teaches blueprint reading for novice level employees. This course covers basic math, types of drawings, Glass Box, Multiview drawings, orthographic projection, line types – their applications and precedence, dimensioning and tolerancing, title blocks, materials, drawing change systems, section views, auxiliary views, detail views, assembly drawing, sketching, and isometrics.

Learning Outcomes:

Students will understand the different types of drawings, line types, Multiview drawings, information in the title blocks, some ANSI standards for drawings, drawing revisions, dimensions, tolerances, assembly drawings, and how to sketch Isometric pictorials.

Author Marilyn vos Savant once said, “Many people feel they must multi-task because everybody else is multitasking, but this is partly because they are all interrupting each other so much.” The reality, unfortunately, is that managing multiple projects is part of our daily workplace routine. So, how do we achieve success? This session will help give you the skills necessary for bringing a project in on time and on budget, every time.

Program Deliverables:

• Identify the importance of planning and scheduling.

• Learn how to break down a project to define specific actions needed to complete it.

• Demonstrate accurate scheduling techniques that show the relationship between tasks and time involved.
