Introducing the South Central Kentucky Advanced Manufacturing Alliance (SCK AMA) — a new, employer-led initiative designed to tackle our region’s critical workforce needs. Manufacturing is the lifeblood of our economy, generating $94 billion in economic impact and employing over 26,000 people. Yet, with 9,000 positions needing to be filled over the next decade, our industry faces a pressing workforce challenge.
Why Join The Alliance?
The SCK AMA is being formed to create a collaborative, demand-driven system for building and sustaining a skilled manufacturing workforce in South Central Kentucky. By joining, you’ll help drive a unified approach to training and recruitment that reflects the needs of regional manufacturers, like you, for a skilled and reliable workforce.
Our Mission and Key Focus Areas
Together, we’ll address three core workforce gaps:
- Awareness & Outreach – Shaping perceptions of manufacturing careers to attract talent from K-12 students to adults considering career changes.
- Career Pathways &
Education Alignment – Developing seamless, industry-aligned pathways that prepare high school and college graduates for in-demand jobs.
- Upskilling &
Incumbent Training – Ensuring current workers can gain new skills and certifications, helping to advance their careers and keep up with evolving technology.
How It Works
Led by employer champions and supported by our community partners, SCK AMA will hold quarterly meetings to set goals, review progress, and initiate collaborative projects. A publicly available dashboard will measure key metrics—like program enrollments, job placements, and skills gained—to keep our efforts accountable and transparent.
