The Training Consortium of South Central Kentucky celebrated the first graduation of its Group Leader Program on Thursday, February 20, with 17 members of the regional workforce completing the program.
The Group Leader Program is structured along the lines of the consortium's award-winning Supervisor Certificate Program, which has graduated five program cohorts to date.
Participants of the program attend 10 sessions that develop the competencies needed to be a successful in a leadership role. The cohort approach allows members to network and learn from group leaders at other facilities.
"This program was designed to meet the career development needs of front line group and team leaders who play an integral part in the work place," stated Ron Bunch, President & CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce. "As with all of the courses provided through the Training Consortium, the Group Leader Program is shaping and developing the workforce in South Central Kentucky. Our existing industries desire skilled and qualified workers and the completion of this program demonstrates our continued growth and development of talent in the region. Congratulations to all the program graduates."
By participating in this course, employees learn ways to develop in three main areas: business principles, leadership and coaching.
"The Group Leader Program helped me evaluate myself as a manager and gave me the tools to more effectively communicate with members of my organization. It helped me establish clear goals and vision and inspired me to take ownership of my professional life," stated Adam Butler, Bowling Green Parks and Recreation.
The Training Consortium was formed in 2004 by BANDO, DESA and NASCO to provide training for their employees by gaining access to funds through the Bluegrass State Skills Corporation (BSSC).
