Project Management Essentials

Renowned Project Management expert Cornelius Fichtner once said, “The ‘P’ is as much about ‘People’ management as it is about ‘Project’ management." A project can be differentiated from ongoing business operations in that it is "a temporary endeavor to create a unique product or service" (Chatfield and Johnson, 2000). Within this short definition can be found the basic "project triangle": time, cost, and performance. In this course, you will explore the "art" of project management-the continual balancing of these three areas throughout the process of planned and unplanned events to arrive at a successful completion.

Program Deliverables:

- Understand the basic principles of project management/project teams
- Evaluate likely project risks and develop appropriate response strategies
- Monitor the key project issues of schedule, budget, and performance deliverables and develop problem responses

Conflict Resolution

Managing conflict is a vital skill for all managers, supervisors, and supervisory trainees. It should also be recognized that conflict, if managed appropriately, can be a tremendous force for good in organizations.
Although conflict between workers is inevitable, learning how to manage conflicts will help supervisors minimize negative effects of conflict situations. Emphasizing win-win solutions is especially critical for long-term success.
Whereas this is a skill set that tends to evolve with experience, there are many conflict resolution competencies that leaders can master earlier in their careers that will allow them to realize their full potential sooner rather than later.

This 4-hour, hands-on workshop will provide you with the tools and strategies needed to: (1) understand the nature of conflict situations, (2) discern how people experience conflict situations differently, (3) utilize effective techniques for resolving conflict in the workplace, and (4) see how conflict can be a driving force for organizational improvement.

Thursday, August 22, 2019 8:00 AM thru 12:00 PM

Featured are a variety of scenarios where workers exhibit unwelcome behavior to show viewers what types of behavior constitute harassment and how they should respond to such conduct.

This 2-hour, hands-on workshop will use lecture, case studies, experiential assessments and other activities to help participants learn how to: (1) identify the words and actions that constitute harassment, (2) understand what the law says about harassment, (3) deal with the immediate consequences of harassment, (4) respond appropriately when dealing with an instance of harassment, (5) manage theimplications of harassment, and (6) create a supportive and harassment-free work environment.
