Small Business Innovation Research Kick-Off Event
Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs are one of the largest sources of early-stage capital for technology commercialization in the United States. These programs allow US-owned & operated small businesses to engage in federal research & development that has a strong potential for commercialization.
SBIR/STTR program goals are to:
1. Stimulate technologial innovation in private sector
2. Use small business to meet federal research and development needs
3. Encourage participation by socio-economically disadvantaged firms
4. Fund cooperative R&D between small businesses and research institutions
5. Bridge the funding gap between basic research and the commercial marketplace
